it’s just me isn’t it. it’s a sickness. and my two biggest addictions are Waitrose Food Illustrated and BBC Good Food. i’ve tried others but i always come back to my old standards. and they are expensive. WFI is 6.95USD and the BBC mag is 7.95USD. factoring in the nearly 10% sales tax we have in the great state of tennessee, that is almost 17USD a month in magazines! i have restrained myself to buying only those two on the newsstand. i have subscriptions to Bon Appetit and Cook’s Illustrated. but i relish my brit mags. i read them cover to cover, even all the ads.
when keifel was in london last year, he bought the october issues for me there. the BBC one came with a flat mini-whisk that i use all the time. i wish the american versions came with the swag. apparently they send out all kinds of groovy little gadgets and coupons cell-o-wrapped to the mag. and waitrose has an in-store seasonal mag that’s free. so jealous.
for now i will have to content myself with the american versions and dream mistily of keifel and i having the wherewithall to move to london and BBC or Waitrose hiring me to write foodie porn so i can get all the magazines for free.
