Today, I have been staring down a bag of canistrelli al’anis, which as it turns out is a hard little pillow of French goodness. One of the guys in our department is French and brought them back from Provence. I am addicted. I’m addicted to cookies in general. The new and exciting just fuels that fire.
The hard and crunchy seem to be my very favorites. It all started with biscotti. Almond biscotti, dunked in a perfectly made latte with the teeniest bit of sugar. These newly discovered canistrelli would be perfect with tea. The other flavor he brought is orange blossom. Orange blossom! How magnificient that would be with tea.
Of course I will now have to search high and low for a recipe for these canistrelli. I will duly report the results of my search. (Dammit! I already returned the French Cookie Book to the library.)
